Detailed Description - Grand Junction to Montrose:
From Delta to Montrose, US 50 is a four-lane divided highway with a single signal and a few country road-type crossings and turnoffs. Through Delta and then for a few miles north of town, US 50 is four-lane city street / country road. From a few miles north of Delta to Olathe, all access From Olathe to Montrose, private access points are allowed directly on the highway. However, from there to just south of Grand Junction there's nearly nothing but desert, and the highway was recently widened to four lanes. The Montrose to Grand Junction widening and the CO 82 widening were the big projects out on the western slope for years.

Future Improvements:
There are eventual plans to four-lane US 50 from Pueblo to the Kansas state line, in order to make it safer for cars to pass slow-moving farm equipment. The 2005 State Transportation Improvement Program includes $1 million in 2007 for four-laning in Otero County.
