Current and Future Improvements:

An expressway connection between the Rockton Bypass and the expressway segment north of Rockford is hinted at by stub endings, but no action is currently taking place to make this a reality. The 2-lane expressway segment between Dixon and Sterling may be expanded to 4-lanes, but no action is currently taking place. The only project in the current transportation improvement plan is to do minor repairs to IL 2 between Rockford and Oregon, resurfacing the highway and reconstructing the shoulders.
