County Route 614 (Scudders Mill Road):
Summary:
Scudders Mill Road is an expressway in southern Middlesex County that connects US 1 with the town of Plainsboro.
Detailed Description:
This expressway is located in southwestern Middlesex County, fairly equidistant between New York City and Philadelphia. Scudders Mill Road's intent is to facilitate traffic from US 1 into the township of Plainsboro, removing traffic from Plainsboro Road, a narrow 2 lane residential road which cannot handle the overflow of vehicles from US 1. Scudders Mill Road also serves the Princeton Forrestal Village and numerous corporations, such as
Merrill Lynch and Bristol Myers Squibb, in addition to the residents of Plainsboro. It meets back up with Plainsboro Road, which continues east as a 4 lane divided arterial but then gradually becomes a two lane country highway towards Cranbury township.
Scudders Mill Rd is also part of the no-build alternative (in conjunction with Dey Road, Plainsboro Road, and CR 522) if NJ 92 were to not be built. Alt will face many of the same consequences as the CR 522 expressway if NJ 92 does not get built. In addition, if the Middlesex-Ocean-Monmouth rail link (MOM link) is not built, it will probably hurt Plainsboro as much as South Brunswick in the years to come.
