Glossary
Introduction:
In Nova Scotia, 100-series are routes with partial or full control of access, single or double digits are primary highways, and 3 digits numbers higher than 200 signify secondary / collector routes. The 200 series routes run East-West and the 300 series run North-South.

On expressways, interchanges are identified with green signs and intersections with yellow ones. The typical speed limit on these routes is 100 km/h (62.5 mph) but there are some exceptions (110 km/h (68.8 mph)).
