OH 7:
Summary:
OH 7 will be an Super-2 expressway from Chesapeake to Rome. The segment from US 52 to OH 775 is complete. Another segment, east to the junction with existing OH 7 near Fairland East Elementary School, is under construction. The final segment to the east is on hold indefinitely as of January 17, 2004. Local officials are appealing the state’s decision not to fund the expressway. There is a 2.39-mile long Super-2 expressway just south of Athalia. The OH 7 bypass of Pomeroy starts as a Super-2 at OH 124 and soon becomes 4 lanes. There is a project currently under construction to connect the east end of the Pomeroy Bypass with the Appalachian Highway (OH 32 / US 50) in Coolville. The OH 7 expressway starts up again 1.5 miles south of OH 32 and OH 7 is multiplexed with the Appalachian Highway from there to Belpre. It continues as an expressway to Marietta. A Marietta Bypass is planned. For most of the Marietta to Powhatan Point segment, there is no expressway, with 3 exceptions: Willow Island Lock and Dam, Hannibal, and Clarington. North of that, there are at-grades on four sections of the OH 7 freeway: from 3 miles north of Powhatan Point to 3 miles north of Dilles Bottom, from Bridgeport to 2 miles north of Martins Ferry, in Steubenville, between Stratton and just north of OH 213, and in East Liverpool. The final expressway segment of OH 7 is from the south corporate limits of Conneaut (1.68 miles south of I-90) to 1.84 miles north of I-90. This 3.52-mile long highway provides access to Conneaut. For the southernmost 1.23 miles, the highway is a Super-2, and the rest of the expressway is 4-lane divided.
