Summary:

Segment Type of Highway
East of I-5 to WA 204 US 2 is a freeway.
WA 304 to Bickford Ave 4-lane divided expressway. This segment is planned to be upgraded to a freeway by removing the at-grade at Bickford Ave. The upgrade is included in the 2003-2022 State Highway Plan.
Snohomish Bypass Super-2 freeway. This is planned to be upgraded to a 4-lane freeway. The upgrade is included in the 2003-2022 State Highway Plan.
Monroe Bypass Will be built as a freeway with new interchanges at Westwick Road, SR 522, and East Monroe. Preliminary engineering has been completed on the route. The upgrade is included in the 2003-2022 State Highway Plan. The highway plan states that the route will be a four-lane freeway west of WA 522 and a super-2 freeway east of WA 522.
Monroe to the Deception Creek vicinity Expressway proposed. The upgrade is included in the 2003-2022 State Highway Plan. The highway plan states that this route will be a 4-lane divided expressway through rural areas a a 4-lane undivided arterial through cities.
Deception Creek vicinity to B. N. R. R. Co. Overcrossing (Milepost 56.69-57.11) Super-2 expressway
B. N. R. R. Co. Overcrossing to Tunnel Creek Vicinity Expressway proposed to be built after 2022.

Smith Brook Vicinity to US 97 at Peshatin Expressway proposed to be built after 2022.
Intersection of US 2 and US 97 at Peshatin High accident location. There is a plan for a new diamond interchange (US 2 would be the through route) slightly west of the present day intersection. The design of the project is underway with advertisement scheduled in the fall of 2007. Construction is expected to begin in the spring 2008 and be complete by the fall of 2009.
Peshatin to WA 28 in East Wenatchee 4-lane divided expressway. There is a plan to improve the existing expressway. One improvement has already been programmed. A signal at Dryden is currently under design and is scheduled for advertisement in September 2007 with construction to begin in spring 2008. Other long term improvements proposed are a traffic signal at Hay Canyon Road / Goodwin Road and two diamond interchanges, one in East Cashmere and the other at Lower Sunnyslope Road. Interchanges at WA 285 and Easy St. are also under consideration.

Future Junction Log - I-5 to Monroe:

This project is currently under design, but construction is not scheduled for anytime soon. US 2 will be a 4-lane freeway for the entire distance between I-5 and east of Monroe.

WA 8 is a 4-lane divided expressway along its entire length, from US 12 at Elma to US 101 at Olympia.
