The upgrade is included in the 2003-2022 State Highway Plan. The highway plan states that the route will be a four-lane freeway west of WA 522 and a super-2 freeway east of WA 522. |

High accident location. There is a plan for a new diamond interchange (US 2 would be the through route) slightly west of the present day intersection. The design of the project is underway with advertisement scheduled in the fall of 2007. Construction is expected to begin in the spring 2008 and be complete by the fall of 2009. |

4-lane divided expressway. There is a plan to improve the existing expressway. One improvement has already been programmed. A signal at Dryden is currently under design and is scheduled for advertisement in September 2007 with construction to begin in spring 2008. Other long term improvements proposed are a traffic signal at Hay Canyon Road / Goodwin Road and two diamond interchanges, one in East Cashmere and the other at Lower Sunnyslope Road. Interchanges at WA 285 and Easy St. are also under consideration. |
